Youth Programs

Sandusky Library Mock Caldecott
Drop in to the Youth Services Department from January 12-24 to cast your vote in the 2026 Sandusky Library Mock Caldecott Election. Browse the picture book candidates & select the one you think has the best illustrations! We will announce one winner and 3 honor books on social media based on the number of votes each book receives.

America 250 Ohio Scavenger Hunt
Monday thru Saturday, March 2 – 7
Visit the Library to learn all about Ohio’s symbols, including the state wildflower and state fossil. Find all the symbols hidden throughout the Library, then visit the Youth Services Desk to pick up a prize.

Adult Programs

Winter Reading Program For Adults
Stay cozy this season with our Winter Reading Bingo challenge! Pick up a bingo card from the Readers’ Advisory Desk during the month of January and complete reading and activity squares. Each bingo earns a prize entry, and completing the whole card enters you in the grand prize drawing. Whether you’re a mystery lover, a nonfiction fan, or just in it for the cocoa, there’s something for everyone.

Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange Day
Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Drop in to trade used puzzles for ones that are new to you with other puzzle lovers. Puzzles should be clean and contain all pieces. This will take place in the Readers’ Advisory Area.

Toni Morrison Community Art Project
Join us from Tuesday, January 20 – Saturday, February 21 as we celebrate Toni Morrison Day with a collaborative art project honoring her powerful words. Stop by the Library to add your favorite Toni Morrison quote to our community display. Together we’ll create a beautiful tribute that celebrates her legacy, wisdom, and the enduring impact of her voice.

Library March Madness: U.S. vs. U.K. Books
This March, our books are going head-to-head! In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, we’re hosting Library March Madness: U.S. vs. U.K. Books. Each week, vote for your favorite titles as American and British books face off in a friendly literary showdown. Watch the bracket advance and see which side claims the championship!

Spring Mini Art Show
Artists of all ages may pick up a mini canvas from March 9 – April 4. Feel free to be as creative as possible and decorate your canvas with any spring art you would like. Please return your canvas to the Readers’ Advisory Desk by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 to be included in our Spring Mini Art Show. All canvases will be on display until Thursday, April 30 and can be picked back up by participants beginning on Friday, May 1.
